Destiny in the Details at Viansa Winery
Nothing Compares to this Wine Country Gem
We love Wine Country. I mean, who doesn’t? The vineyards, the wine, the glistening rolling hillsides — enough said. Today’s venue incapsulates all the beauty of this enchanted region, making it one of the most spectacular Wine Country wedding venues! Viansa Winery is a little piece of magic. With several onsite venue options, today’s wedding utilized the amazing hilltop lawn for their ceremony location (with picturesque Sonoma Valley views!) and the gorgeous open-air tented pavilion for a sparkling reception! From Pinterest to Reality
We used the bride’s Pinterest inspiration board to visually get an idea of the specific details she wanted to incorporate into her wedding. Whitney came to us with certain design elements she wanted to incorporate into her wedding. Through Pinterest, she was able to show us her ideas through pictures, which allowed us to get a clear vision of her design direction. This helped us to make sure everything was exactly as she had imagined it to be on the day of the wedding.
Design inspiration & incorporation of the Venue
Olive branches were a big theme for Whitney and Doug’s wedding. She wanted to tie together her rustic, wine country look with the hundreds of olive trees we have on property at Viansa. With the Natural Tuscany napkins, we wrapped the lace ribbon that the bride provided herself, around each napkin and then tied a fresh sprig of olive branches (cut from Viansa’s trees) with twine around the lace band. I just loved the way it looked! We love to be creative and to take care of these personal touches for the brides that we work with. This allows the bride and her family free time to enjoy the weekend, instead of spending hours tying napkins and cutting olive branches. That’s what we are here for!
Create a Strong Reception Layout
We love this layout, because it allows for the bride and groom to be in the middle of everyone and is a good use of space if there is a big, long head table. It is also great for bands, as it makes them the focal point of the back of the tent. Unfortunately this layout is not the best use of space in the tent for a large wedding. Whitney had 125 guests which fits perfectly in this layout. If she had been 150 – 175 guests, this sort of layout would not have worked.
Best thing about having an Autumn wedding at Viansa…
Besides the Harvest Moon that night? Wow! That was gorgeous. The best part of getting married in wine country in the fall is that the vines are so full! The grape clusters are mature and makes for great photo opportunities. Your guests will also love being in wine country during crush, as it’s the only time of year that many wineries open up their winemaking facilities for tours of their production facilities where you can see all the magic happen!

Looking through the Lens with Melissa Mermin
“Whitney and Doug had a perfect autumn wedding at Viansa Winery, the quintessential wine country wedding reception venue with acres of vineyards and grapes ready to burst, the golden sun setting behind the hills during the ceremony as the full harvest moon rose in the vineyard at cocktail hour. Highlights in their Love Story: When we did their formal wedding portraits in the vineyard, the moon rose up above the hills with the sunset’s light still glowing, a photographer’s dream! At the end of the night, the groom got onstage for an impromptu song for his new wife Whitney covering “Brown Eyed Girl” (I found a great cover to go with their Love Story that sounded like Doug singing!) Special thanks to Laura Fraize and Brooke Altman, wedding planners at Viansa!”
