It’s almost Friday, and we wanted to inspire you with some amazing expert advice from today’s planner, the amazing Jacin Fitzgerald of Lovely Little Details. She gives IDV readers the dish on creating an incredible wedding design (like she did here!).

As one of the landmark San Francisco wedding venues, The Fairmont speaks for itself. With incredible event spaces (like the Rooftop Garden in today’s wedding) and some of the best views of the city, that only means that an amazing wedding design can make this venue sparkle that much more! Get tips from Jacin in a fun Q&A post about everything from gold and sparkles to pumpkins and programs!

Best of the Best Venues

“The amazing staff at the Fairmont are on top of everything, working with them is a planner/designer’s dream! We wanted to create a quintessential San Francisco wedding with a whimsical feel and The Fairmont provided the perfect backdrop for our design ideas.”

Inspiration behind Design

“For every wedding I plan/design, I work hand-in-hand with the couple to create details that will exude their style and personality. Erin and Tom wanted a wedding that was elegant and classic, but with a fun twist – we pulled this off by adding lots of texture through a ribbon curtain, flowy chair covers and unexpected sequin linens.”

Add Personal Touches

“Erin loves the color lavender and we wanted to bring some lavender in to the details, as it is also such a sign of California. We tied gold ribbon around lavender sprigs and had them placed on each seat for the ceremony along with the program as a fragrant and pretty detail.”

Escort Cards vs. Seating Chart

“We actually went with a seating chart in a large gold frame that I designed to match the overall color scheme of the wedding. This is a nice alternative to escort cards if you don’t want to pre-select each seat at a wedding and want a focal point for your seating display. I did create “bride” and “groom” escort cards, though!”

Going for the Gold

“Go for gold if you want gold! I don’t see it going anywhere, in fact, it is going to be included in several of my events this year, and even a few 2014 brides are asking for it. Gold is the perfect color to add a touch of glam, or achieve that “Kate Spade” feeling of whimsy and flirty fun. What’s a party without sparkles, glitter or gold? Gold just screams celebration! If you don’t want to go overboard, consider adding a dash of gold here and there via gold picture frames, gold embossing on your invites, or maybe a fun pair of gold heels.”

Planner’s Favorite Picks

“It’s hard to choose a favorite part – I loved how Erin and Tom were so willing to go with some of the ideas that I threw out, such as golden pumpkins (it was Halloween weekend, after all) and dark purple sequin linens. When you have a client who trusts your judgement and lets you run with things, it’s an absolute dream. I had such a great time going through design plan ideas with this fabulous couple!”
