Using Props in Your Wedding Photos

I believe there’s nothing wrong with adding a little pizazz and fun to your photos! But there are two sides to using props in your wedding photos.

Props or Not? Some people think that props are a distraction from the true point of wedding photos — creating timeless shots of you and your husband/wife that focus solely on the two of you, and capturing the romantic emotion of your love. Although this is true that you want at least a few amazingly timeless wedding photos (think photos that mom and dad will put on the mantel), why not mix in one or two props as a great way to loosen up and have some fun with your photos.

Consistency! A colorful bunch of heart balloons for example (that tie into your color palette and hopefully the aesthetic of your venue) add a jovial and whimsical feel to your special day! The key is to go with something that personifies your love as a couple, not to find something that looks like a “cool idea” on Pinterest, but doesn’t fit into your design, theme or venue setting. The great thing about The Bridges Golf Course, is that it creates a naturally beautiful backdrop to play with and splash your personality over.

Looking through the Lens with David Zhang

“The Bridges Golf Club is one of my favorite wedding venues in Bay Area. It has gorgeous views of East Bay hills, surrounded by meadows, trees and flowers. Inside the venue, the decoration is elegant and delicate. One can go to the balcony in the top floor and have an excellent view of the golf course. The staff is very friendly and helpful throughout the whole process. This was a small and intimate wedding. It was a perfect combination of Western style wedding and Chinese wedding. Because the bride and groom planned the wedding really well, I had plenty of time taking artistic photos from the “get ready” to the end of the reception. The food was delicious and the service was flawless. I definitely would love to shoot there again in the future.”

Favorite Photography Spots

“There are many beautiful spots at this venue for lovely photos. There is a well-known “secret” about this venue: the tunnel with magical lighting. The natural light from the other end of the tunnel will form a halo surrounding the bride and groom. The ceremony site is on the meadow area. One can take a beautiful shot of the whole ceremony site from the venue building. The balcony, the stairs and the internal decoration are also excellent backdrops for photography purpose.”
