Save the Trend! One True Love Vintage Rental Workshop

Posted Mar 5, 2013 by Rachel Shapiro

Let’s face it — every bride wants to have great wedding photos! After you’ve finished the planning, the ceremony and the celebration you are left with this “piece of your wedding” that you and your family will treasure for years to come! And the best way to assure you amazing photos is to hire a GREAT photographer!

Amanda O’Shannessy of One True Love Vintage Rentals and Amanda O’Shannessy Creative is helping photographers through Styled. The Workshop.

These workshops are invaluable tools for photographers and styling participants! Amanda shares her inspiration behind the workshops and how one idea became a hot trend in the Bay Area:

“In the Spring of 2012, I was co-hosting an engagement session styling workshop and chatting with a few photographers. One of those photographers mentioned how it would be really fun if I set-up a bunch of One True Love Vintage Rentals props and invite Bay Area photographers to shoot them. As soon as he said that my mind started racing. I knew it was an idea that I’d love to explore further and in December of 2012 we hosted our first workshop for photographers!”

Workshop Day 1 & 2: Styling Participants

Styled. The Workshop. lends the opportunity for Amanda and her talented vendor team to introduce you to the world of styling as they break it down for you over a two-day workshop covering the ins and outs of styling! From idea conception all the way through installation – it will all be covered through hands-on exercises, lecture material and interactivity with photographers on set. No prior styling experience is required, but a strong interest in event design and styling is a must!

Q & A with Amanda O’Shannessy

What can photographers and aspiring stylists expect from the workshop?

“Our styling participants can expect to walk away with a better understanding of how to create magazine-worthy shoots and events. From the inspiration gathering process to the actual styling of a shoot – we will cover a ton! As for the photographers, they can expect to get a better understanding of what working hand-in-hand with a stylist entails and how we can make their lives easier. They can also expect an amazing styled shoot chock full of inspiring details for them to photograph!”

How often do the workshops take place?

“We plan to offer at least 2 workshops per year – and hopefully more! At least one workshop will take place in Northern California each year and the rest will take place outside of California. For example, Portland, New Orleans, Charleston, and the NYC are all on the list of potential fall 2013 workshop spots!”

What inspires you?

“I get inspired by colors, textures and patterns that I come across in my everyday life. Florals, graphic design and fashion are also huge sources of inspiration for me. Since inspiration comes at the most random of times I keep a running list of ideas and photos of things that inspire me on my phone.”
